In my career and community I talk with tons of people about how they want their lives to be. The thing I hear most often is “I need to exercise more”.
It’s because of the lost mums and sick mums, angry mums and absent mums that I want to share the goodness of mine.
Please don’t let your lofty views of success, the glossy sheen of someone else’s life, or the visions in your head of what you thought life would be keep you from acknowledging when you do something right.
You can get songs unstuck, you can get thoughts unstuck too.
Let’s take a few minutes to bask in the reassuring truths that we so often take for granted.
The book is Rising Strong, and from the introduction it lays down strategies to grapple with emotions in tough situations and “rise strong” on the other side of the fight, armed with new understanding of ourselves and a plan for future run-ins.
One of my favorite things to do is spend a sunny afternoon exploring an expansive, inexpensive thrift store, the more varied the donation range the better. I spend most of my time not looking for things I need, but experimenting.
